Introduction
Welcome to Undiscovered Scotland's review section, home to our hotel and dining reviews. The hotel reviews cover a selection of hotels and other accommodation providers across Scotland, while the dining reviews cover hotel restaurants and other dining establishments the length and breadth of the country. Accommodation and dining are reviewed separately where a hotel provides both (as most do): this is to allow a visitor looking for somewhere to eat to focus on what she or he is interested in, and likewise someone simply looking for somewhere to stay. Where an establishment has both a hotel and a dining review, they are cross linked to allow visitors to gain a full picture including both aspects.
The aim is to expand our review coverage to give as broad a choice as possible for those looking for a place to stay, or somewhere to eat: and the reviews are cross referenced from our area based accommodation and dining listings elsewhere on the site.
The Basis of the Reviews
Reviews are written following a review visit to the establishment by our reviewers, who have extensive experience of producing hotel and restaurant reviews across Scotland. Hotels and restaurants agree a review visit in advance, so know we are coming, and provide our reviewers with complimentary dinner, bed and breakfast; or bed and breakfast; or lunch; or dinner: depending on the nature of the establishment.
What sets Undiscovered Scotland's reviews apart from some other review schemes is that the hotels, restaurants and others covered do not pay any fee to Undiscovered Scotland, either to be included in our editorial coverage or as part of the review process.
This means that our reviews are truly part of the editorial content of the site, and from the user's point of view it means the reviews are truly objective. Undiscovered Scotland always seeks to take a constructive approach to our coverage of any subject, but we do not shy away from highlighting negative aspects of what we are covering when that is called for, and our hotel and dining reviews are no exception. Some of the establishments we review do advertise elsewhere on Undiscovered Scotland, but apart from links from adverts to reviews we seek to keep this separate from the review process and try to avoid it ever clouding our editorial judgement.
Do You Want to Be Included?
If you want your hotel/restaurant/accommodation/dining establishment to be reviewed by Undiscovered Scotland, simply email us at info@undiscoveredscotland.co.uk. Because no fees are payable, we seek to incorporate review visits into our normal photographic trips to different parts of Scotland. This means that there is often a little lead time before reviews can be undertaken: but if you email us we will certainly respond and seek to agree a date for a review visit. As they form an integral part of the site, our reviews can be read by the large number of visitors we receive each year from around the globe.
