Blackhouse MuseumThe small village of Arnol lies on the coastal side of the main A858 as it makes its way down the north west side of Lewis. At the far end of the village is the Blackhouse Museum, an unmissable visit for anyone wanting to understand a way of life once widespread in Lewis. For more information and photographs, see the Blackhouse Museum Feature Page. The picture shows the interior of the Blackhouse, complete with the all-enveloping peat smoke from the open fire on the floor.
